Sammamish Slough Restriction Impacts

This video taken on June 2, 2010 shows the impact of restricting the water flow out of Lake Sammamish. The Sammamish Slough/River has been constricted by a concrete weir at the mouth, vegetation overgrowth from the head of the lake for the first quarter mile of the slough and armoring in the off leash dog area of Marymoor Park. This action has created a narrow channel that reduces the outflow capacity of Lake Sammamish and speeds up the rate of flow through the slough. The channel is the responsibility of King County and the Army Corp of Engineers to maintain.
